NOAH NY’s recent medical relief mission to Port au Prince has been a success. Hundreds of critically injured patients were treated as NOAH NY’s team of surgeons, doctors, and nurses partnered with a team of critical care nurses and fire paramedics from Tacoma, Washington and IMANA to provide the greatest number of people with immediate medical attention. Bojeux Parc (a former amusement park) was transformed into a field hospital in Port au Prince and has been overflowing with the injured and homeless since the earthquake devastated Haiti. Despite unavoidable logistical problems, medical supplies and equipment were delivered without much delay. With the spirit of solidarity, NOAH NY has paired with AIMER HAITI, one of the more than 400 NGOs working on disaster relief in Haiti today, and the situation appears hopeful. US Congresswoman Maxine Waters also visited the field hospital and seemed pleased with the tireless efforts of the volunteers. |
